How to apply

A good fit first

Before submitting a formal application, we encourage prospective members to get in touch with the ABSC team for an introductory conversation. This helps us understand your business, explain the scheme clearly, and confirm which membership category is the right fit.

There's no obligation involved — it's simply a practical first step that makes the application process smoother for everyone.

What the process looks like

Once you're ready to proceed, the application process works as follows:

  1. Get in touch — contact the ABSC team to introduce your business and ask any questions. There's no formal membership without some conversation first — we want to make sure it's the right fit for both parties.
  2. Review the scheme documents — read and agree to the ABSC Scheme Guidelines and Code of Conduct before completing your application.
  3. Complete the application form — download and complete the Scheme Member Application Form, and return it signed along with a signed copy of the Code of Conduct to membership@bedding.org.au.
  4. Fee arrangement — confirm your preferred fee structure (annual fee or per-mattress levy) as part of your application.
  5. Welcome and onboarding — once your application is approved, you'll receive confirmation, logo files, and an invitation to your first member meeting.

Applying as an Industry Partner? The process is the same, but uses a separate form. Download the Industry Partner Application Form and return it signed, along with a signed copy of the Code of Conduct, to membership@bedding.org.au.

Note: Document download links to be added by Justin — Scheme Member Application Form v2.2, Industry Partner Application Form v1.2, ABSC Code of Conduct v2.0.

Getting started as a member

New members are introduced to the ABSC network through our quarterly member meetings, where you'll connect with other scheme participants and hear directly from the ABSC team on current priorities and projects.

From there, your level of involvement is up to you. Some members engage closely with research and innovation work. Others use ABSC membership primarily for the take-back infrastructure access and sustainability credentials it provides. Both approaches are legitimate, and we work to make membership useful at whatever level of engagement suits your business.

Questions before you apply?

We're happy to answer them. Get in touch with the ABSC team.
